Ohio Township Association Annual Winter Conference & Trade Show
Read below for information from the 2023 OTA Annual Winter Conference.
The Ohio Township Association's annual conference is held in Columbus each year to further the education of township officials and staff, and to provide networking opportunities to meet fellow township officials and staff from all across Ohio. With more than 80 educational workshops, a trade show with over 100 vendors, and several networking and entertainment events, the conference is a great opportunity for OTA members to advance their knowledge of Ohio's townships.

Registration opens November 1, 2022
Pre-registration opens for attendees on November 1, 2022. If you wish to pre-register, you must do so prior to Wednesday, January 11, 2023.

We are offering over 80 workshops to all attendees at this year's conference! With a wide range of topics, including communications plans, ARPA, audit recommendations, state ethics training, and more. Workshops are included with admission at no extra cost.

Are you driving into town for one day of the conference? There are plenty of parking options near the Convention Center. Please find a few parking options below for your ease of travel. A map will be included in the Jan/Feb issue of the Ohio Township News. Standard event rates are generally $15 - $20 per day but are subject to change.

Meals are not provided throughout the conference, except at optional events which may require a ticket. You are more than welcome to pack your own snacks. There are several close food options available, including food vendors in the Convention Center and Trade Show hall. There are also numerous restaurants within walking distance of the Convention Center. A detailed map of area restaurants will be included in your registration materials at the conference.

Tax Exemption Certificate:
Some entities may be entitled to exemption from lodging tax in the City of Columbus and Franklin County, where housing accomodations for the conference are being held.

This brand-new event will allow you to mingle with the vendors while kicking off the conference! Not only is it a great networking opportunity, but for $5 all attendees will also receive a beverage ticket and complimentary light appetizers. Please note that anyone who plans to attend will need a ticket. Cash bar will be available.
Ethics Training; Free | Wed., Jan. 25, 2022
Pursuant to R.C. §507.12, all fiscal officers must have two hours of ethics training each term in office as part of continuing education. This class - provided by the Ohio Ethics Commission - will satisfy that requirement. Pre-registration is not needed for this course.
General Session; Free | Thurs., Jan. 26, 2023
Each year, the OTA invites all attendees to join us at the General Session. Hear from both the OTA President Tim Lynch and Executive Director, Heidi M. Fought, on the progress and future of the association. See which counties won our 2022 membership awards and congratulate all the graduates of the OTA’s Leadership Academy as they are honored during the ceremony. The session wraps up with Mark Weaver, a crisis communication specialist who will discuss the importance of communication plans, relevant to every attendee, regardless of their position in the township. Spouses and guests will be able to spend the afternoon making crafts and enjoying cocktails at the “Crafts and Cocktails event this year. Grab some lunch and pick from a variety of crafts that you will be able to customize to your taste.
Night at the Races; $35 per ticket | Thurs., Jan. 26, 2023
Head over to the Hyatt Regency Ballroom and show off your betting skills at “Night at the Races.” Attendees will have the chance to place bets on countless horse races throughout the night. Heavy appetizers and drinks will be available. Those with winning bets will be entered to win some of our valuable prizes at the end of the night!

Join the OTA’s Executive Director, Heidi M. Fought, for fritters, coffee, and a Q&A session Friday morning. This is a great networking opportunity and a way to get to know our Executive Director.

More than 150 vendors participate in the Trade Show and range from truck and tractor dealers to state agencies to printing services and playground companies. The Trade Show hall will be open for the duration of the conference. A nametag is required to enter the Trade Show hall.
