Each guest receives a racing program and betting card.  Each betting card notes its race number.  The number of each horse in that race is at the bottom of the card.  To place their “bet” guests will tear of the card for the upcoming race (the cards are perforated), take the card to a cashier and declare their “bets”  Each guest can place up to three “bets” per race.  They can bet on three horses or place all three bets on one horse if they like.  The cashier will take the card and punch the number for the horse(s) the guest “bets” on and return the card to the guest.  If any of those “bets” finish in the top three, guests will bring their punched to the cashier.  The cashier will give three prize tickets for a first place finish, two tickets for a second place finish, and one ticket for a third place finish.  We’ll repeat the process until we have run all the races.

At the end of the night, guests will submit their prize tickets for many chances to win a raffle item.
