Event Details

Description:

One way to preserve rural character is through conservation development zoning. Through an appropriately designed planned unit development code, townships can foster the set-aside of substantial percentages of open space to protect woodlands, wetlands, pastures, and other natural and historic features while allowing the developer to maintain or increase the remaining density of housing on the parcel. This training will teach you how conservation development design can lower the cost to the developer compared to traditional development through reduced need for infrastructure, increase the value of the house lots facing open spaces, command a higher price, and provide greenspace and stormwater management benefits for the community.

Speaker(s):

Tom Spring, Attorney, Spring Law, LLC

Kimberly Brewster Shefelton, deputy director, Chagrin River Watershed Partners
