Award Will Honor Small Town Volunteers, Prizes Include FREE Website Hosting & Cash Awards

The Small Town America Civic Volunteer Award, presented by CivicPlus and designed-administered by the Barton Russell Group, is intended to recognize local "heroes" from across the country for extraordinary service and creative efforts to retain and recuit public service volunteers in communities of 5,000 people or less. 

The award is intended to help spotlight the growing challenge small cities face in retaining and recruiting people to fill vital public safety roles as e.g., firefighters and emergency medical technicians, on municipal boards/councils an don local government committees that support planning, library, parks and recreation and other important services. 

Nominations began June 1 and will run through August 15 via the website www.civic-volunteer.com. Local governments represented by the top 100 honorees will receive free CivicCMS websites, and localities represented by the top three winning honorees will receive cash awards of $10,000, $7,500 and $5,000.
