Full-time Building Official
Violet Township, Fairfield County
Violet Township is currently seeking a full time Building Official. This position supervises and administers all functions of the Building Department and Building Code Enforcement including plan review of all building permit applications, field inspections of construction in progress, notices to correct code violations and stop work orders as necessary, final building inspections, and issues certificates of occupancy. Work involves planning, organizing, and directing the enforcement of State building codes and standards. Position will involve significant contact with contractors, architects, and property owners regarding building code regulations and procedures as well as citizen complaints. Must be familiar with and able to prepare reports as directed and required by the State Board of Building Standards. Violet Township is a certified building department.

Applicants must be United States citizens or have a valid permanent resident card. Applicants must possess a valid Ohio Driver’s license to be shown at time of application. Professional Certifications and Licenses required: Ohio Board of Building Standards, certification as Building Official, Residential Building Official; Building Inspector; CBO shall be required to maintain the requirements for continuing education as set forth by the International Code Council and the State of Ohio Board of Building Standards. Certification as an Electrical Safety Inspector (or the potential to obtain within the first year of employment) preferred. Work experience of at least five years with another governmental inspection agency as a Chief Building Official is preferred.
