Federal Railroad Administration Virtual Summit

Newsroom,

The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) is hosting a multimodal virtual summit to promote collaboration between stakeholders and discuss agency responsibilities related to highway grade crossings on Friday, June 3 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. EDT

Promoting safety at the nation’s more than 204,000 grade crossings and railroad right of ways to prevent train-vehicle collisions and trespass fatalities is a shared responsibility among motorists, public authorities, railroads, and transportation and safety agencies at all levels. The goal of this summit is to share DOT’s efforts to improve grade crossing safety, a complex issue where several DOT modes’ interests and multi-jurisdictional issues converge and provide information about funding opportunities from the Department of Transportation (DOT).

DOT leadership from FRA, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and the National Highway Transportation Safety Institute (NHTSA) will discuss agency strategies to improve grade crossing safety. There will also be an opportunity for participants to ask questions of DOT leadership during a moderated panel.
