Orange Township is seeking a qualified professional to join our Fiscal Department as an Assistant Fiscal Officer. This full-time position performs a variety of accounting and fiscal functions, including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, budgeting, bank reconciliations, financial reporting, and maintaining records in the Uniform Accounting Network (UAN).
Qualifications: A minimum of four (4) years of accounting or finance experience is required. A bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting is preferred. Experience with governmental fund accounting and UAN or similar accounting software is also preferred.
Essential Functions
- Issue payments for all expenses of the Township.
- Monitor appropriations and purchase orders and assist staff with necessary changes.
- Process payroll and associated payments and reports.
- Serve as primary contact for staff and vendors to provide fiscal guidance related to Orange Township.
- Works with Auditor of State for completion of Township Bi-Annual Audit.
- Create revenue estimates and appropriations for approval by Trustees and manage year end closing process as well as establishment of the new year in accounting software (UAN).
- Receive funds, deposit in bank and post to UAN.
- Ensure all financial transactions and reporting align with standard fund accounting principles, government regulations, and specific grant requirements.
- Process monthly OPERS and OP&F retirement reports as well as Sales Tax Reports.
- Conducts monthly bank reconciliation.
- Create, update, and maintain department records in accordance with records retention schedules.
- Perform special projects per needs of the Fiscal Officer.
- May be asked to attend Board of Trustee meetings
- Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and KSA's
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting preferred.
- Four (4) years experience in Accounting/Finance required.
- Knowledge of fund accounting requirements per Auditor of State preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of accounts payable/receivable processes.
- Advanced knowledge of budgets and appropriations.
- Advanced skill in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Advanced knowledge in use of Uniform Accounting Network (UAN) or similar accounting software.
- Basic skill in Zoom or other video conferencing software.
- Works Independently.
- Intermediate ability to train non-fiscal staff in fiscal requirements.
- Advanced ability to analyze data and make fiscally responsible conclusions.
- Advanced ability to reconcile various systems and find issues and correct them.
- Basic ability to learn payroll software and process payroll every other week.
- Eligible for Fidelity bond at regular rates and pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 507.021.
