Advising Townships on LGBTQ Rights
Educational Training | Law Directors Group
June 15, 2020, the U.S. Supreme Court decided the cases of Bostock v. Clayton County, Zarada v. Altitude Express, Inc., and Harrison Funeral Homes, Inc. v. EEOC, holding that it is unlawful sex discrimination under Title VII to terminate an employee for being homosexual or transgender. These decisions resolved a split among federal courts and will shape sex discrimination law. This presentation will review these and other sex discrimination cases, and their implications for township policies and practices regarding equal employment opportunity, dress codes, bathrooms, workplace investigations and other issues.
