The Ohio Township Association, with OSU Extension: Office of Community Development and Miami University’s Center for Public Management and Regional Affairs, is excited to offer OTALA 2.0! Created to advance your skills from 1.0, this course builds on the work you’ve already done, and will challenge you to to become a better leader. 

This program is created specifically for township officials that have already completed OTALA 1.0. This interactive, hybrid program will take place over 12 months and encompasses a combination of online and in-person learning.   


Format

30 hours of blended learning that includes online and in-person training over the course of 12 months (September to August).

  • 3 in-person residential sessions
  • 9 webinars
  • 11 monthly assignments
  • A class project with presentations
  • Personal evaluations
  • Class size limited to 20 participants.

***Please note: This program is on a first-come, first-served basis. The first 20 people to submit completed registration & payment will be enrolled. We encourage online registration for a faster process.

Attendance Policy

Online Sessions:

  • Participants are expected to attend all online sessions scheduled as part of the Ohio Township Association Leadership Academy 2.0.

  • Each participant is allowed a maximum of two (2) absences, whether excused or unexcused, during the online portion of the program.

  • If a participant exceeds the maximum allowed absences, their participation in the program will be forfeited. Refunds will not be granted.  

In-Person Sessions:

  • In-person sessions are a critical component of the Ohio Township Association Leadership Academy 2.0 and require mandatory attendance.

  • Only emergency absences will be considered as valid reasons for missing an in-person session. 

Consequences for Non-Compliance:

  • Failure to adhere to the attendance policy will result in the forfeiting of the participant's registration

  • Any exceptional circumstances affecting attendance should be communicated to the program coordinator as early as possible to explore potential remedies.

This attendance policy aims to strike a balance between accommodating unforeseen circumstances while ensuring the commitment and dedication of participants to the Ohio Township Association Leadership Academy 2.0. It emphasizes the importance of proactive communication and responsible attendance while allowing for flexibility in case of emergencies.
