BWC Reopens Safety Grants Program
BWC Reopens Safety Grants Program
The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) has reopened the Safety Grants program, which assists employers in purchasing equipment to significantly reduce their risk of workplace injury. The program has over $41 million available to employers in Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26).
BWC’s grant program is accepting applications for three grants: the Safety Intervention Grant (SIG), the Firefighter Exposure to Environmental Elements Grant (FEEEG), and the School Safety and Security Grant (SSSG).
Beginning in FY26, volunteer emergency medical services (EMS) units will also be eligible for turnout gear funding through the FEEEG program. EMS units are eligible to receive up to $15,000 for each three-year eligibility cycle.
The safety grant application process is designed to be straightforward, allowing employers to complete it independently. Information on eligibility and policies for each grant can be found on the safety grants webpage.
